light grey-scale values not showing up
Hi,
I just picked up an ASUS MB MB169B+ and am experiencing the following, with a Macbook Air 5,2 running OS X 10.11.4 with the 2.5.1 drivers. Support tool output is attached. Lighter grey-scale values seem to be not showing up (i.e., showing up as pure white and not any level of grey), on the USB monitor. This is most easily demonstrated with the “white saturation” test image at: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/white.php#whitetest.png On the macbook's builtin screen, all 11 of the areas show up. On the usb screen, only the top left area shows up. The grey of the other areas *do* show up when in the drop shadow of another window (photo attached). I did try searching the net for possible solutions: I found one other person reporting the same result from the above saturation test: https://www.amazon.com/review/R3S94784EAUCTH I found some discussions around issues with Mac’s and external monitors using YCbCr instead of RGB: http://www.mathewinkson.com/2013/03/...ternal-monitor http://embdev.net/topic/284710 http://apple.stackexchange.com/quest...x-lion-very-po or-quality/81120#81120 http://apple.stackexchange.com/quest...ration-is-terr able including a ruby script to create a display Overrides file to override the EDID to force RGB mode: https://gist.github.com/adaugherity/7435890 The override did not seem to make a difference though; the grey values are still showing up only as white. I'm looking for, is there anything else I can try, to have this work? I’m working with applications that use these light-grey scale values, so I’ll need to return the monitor if I can’t find a way to get them to display. Thanks, Will |

RE: light grey-scale values not showing up
I know this is an old post, but I had the same problem. When I connected the monitor directly to the PC with an HDMI cable vs. through the DVI port on my Plugable docking station with a DVI-HDMI cable it worked fine, so it's a problem with the docking station.
