DisplayLink Randomly Stops Working
I work in the IT department for our company, and we use DisplayLink USB adapters to connect monitors via DVI to Lenovo X1 Carbons. I'm familiar with how to set this up, and perform basic troubleshooting.
One of my coworkers developed an issue where her screen would randomly go black as if it was disconnected, which is the monitor being used by DisplayLink. Tried unplugging and plugging the adapter back into USB, or using different ports, but that didn't seem to work. Rebooting the PC did not work either. The only thing that seemed to work is to uninstall the DisplayLink drivers, and software, and reinstall everything from scratch. But this issue seems to be continuing intermittently. We need a better resolution for this issue. She mentioned that using the Zoom Meeting software, sharing her desktop in full screen, allowed her to temporarily regain functionality of the DisplayLink monitor. Alternatively, opening up the laptop also allows her to regain functionality of the DisplayLink monitor. She's using 2 monitors (one through DisplayLink, the other through the Lenovo VGA connection dongle. The VGA dongle isn't experiencing any issues). Any help would be appreciated! |

Hello,
Thanks for the report. This need to reinstall sounds a bit peculiar. Would you please be able to collect logs as described in my forum signature? Preferably when the issue is present so I can see what the dock thinks it's doing. The Lenovo X1 Carbon is part of our test suite. Kind regards, Alban

The dock isn't the issue. I don't have the dock.
Also the issue has been resolved by re-adjusting the screen resolution. |
