Question black screen (no video) after reboot

Hello.

After installing the drivers and plugging everything in, everything works fine. My 3rd monitor works as expected. However, if I reboot, all I get is a black screen/no video. The monitor still registers in Windows and I can see it in display properties, and I can drag windows into it. Just no video.

This is my setup:
  • HP EliteBook 8440p
  • HP Dock
  • DVI monitor plugged into dock
  • VGA monitor plugged into dock
  • DVI monitor plugged into Plugable DVI-VGA adapter

I've tried with or without the dock and have the same problem.

Any ideas/advice?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Please attach the logs from this tool:
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269

When you reply please select "Manage Attachments" from the "Additional Options" section below.

From there select Upload and navigate to the output of the tool.

Thanks,
James

:/ I checked and due to my company's policy, I cannot send the data this tool collects to anyone. I can run the tool, but can't send it to anyone.

Any other way to diagnose what the problem might be?

If it is worth mentioning, I tried a a USB-DVI and USB-VGA device by both Kennsington and Pluggable. Same issue with any combination.

Hi,

Really need the logs to advise.

What graphics card make, model and driver version to you have installed?
Does this happen with the latest version of the graphics card driver?

Can you send the results of your notebook's system info file (run msinfo32.exe) or the results of dxdiag (run dxdiag.exe)?

What version of DisplayLink software do you have installed?
Does this happen with the latest version (7.6 M0)

Do you have another monitor you can try?

Some other tips for things to try can be found here:
http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=896

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,
James

Intel HD Graphics (Core i5) - version 8.15.10.2559

I'll have to see if I can send output of those two.

Checked that link and no help.

Tried multiple monitors.

I'm using version 7.4 because that is the only version I'm allowed to use at my company. I am trying to see if I can get version 7.6.

Turns out DisplayLink drivers conflict with Citrix Display Drivers, which I have installed on my machine. I don't see anything about it in this forum but I'll start a new thread to see if anyone knows anything about it.
