Usually, when I boot up with all 3 monitors on, I will see the wallpaper (toolbars, etc.) on each screen. I booted up this morning -- my laptop screen had visible content on it (login screen, start page etc.). Both my external monitors were ON (not asleep), but black ... no wallpaper, no toolbar. The wallpaper & toolbar did not appear until I moved a window to each monitor.
One monitor is connected by HDMI cable. The other monitor is connected by the Sabrent/DisplayLink USB connection. Maybe it must be a Windows 8.1 Beta thing. |

Hi,
Are you still seeing this after updating your Nvidia graphics driver? Thanks, James |

Attached support file, jic.
Interesting. I just had a case where I moved a browser window to the monitor that is powered by the USB connector, yet the desktop did not appear (the monitor was on -- green power light instead of the orange light you see during sleep mode). I minimized the browser & restored the browser back to the desktop on that monitor -- the monitor then woke up. Last edited by TBolt; 07-15-2013 at 04:44 PM. |

This does seem to be a Windows 8.1 thing - I've also seen it on a system with a directly attached display. Thanks, James |
