[solved] slow response between switching applications (evdi)
Dear community,
I'm currently facing the problem that switching between applications (primarily KDE plasma applications) or launching any new applications is very very laggy and takes a couple of seconds. This hasn't been always like this (it used to work flawlessy). For instance, when I try to launch a new application through the shortcut "Alt+space" during the input (typing) is taking forever.... or launching a terminal window. I have an idea that it caused either by "evdi" or "displaylink", because it only ever happens when I connect my laptop to an external monitor through a port-replicator/dockingstation. When I use my laptop standalone, without any external monitor connected, it reacts immediately. Do you have any ideas what the root cause could be? I'm happy to provide any sort of log-event based output, but I don't know where to start. I've tried re-installing evdi and even switched to evdi-git I tried re-installing the package displaylink but neither of those fixed the problem for me. Maybe it is related to xf86-* package. Any ideas? thank you in advance, theresa Last edited by micsnare; 12-14-2019 at 08:42 AM. |

for anyone else struggling with this problem.
I finally got it working with this xorg config: put this into /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-evdidevice.conf Code:
Section "OutputClass" Identifier "DisplayLink" MatchDriver "evdi" Driver "modesetting" Option "AccelMethod" "none" EndSection |

Hi all,
I seem to be experience this problem now with the latest updates again. My current setup is as follows: Displaylink Version: 5.2.14-1 Xorg-Sever Version: 1.20.8-1 Evdi Version: 1.6.4-2 Video driver installed: xf86-video-vesa 2.4.0-2 xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+899+gf66d3954-1 Current config in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-displaylink.conf Code:
Section "Device" Identifier "DisplayLink" Driver "modesetting" Option "PageFlip" "false" EndSection Any ideas what could be causing this slowness/delays? Any particular logs that would be worth looking into? Please, help me debug this....it's driving me insane. thanks, theresa |
