The screen works via HDMI, but shows no signal if connected via USB-C. The spec for my laptop says that all USB ports are USB 3.1. An older version of ASUS MB169B+ works just fine.

The monitor is definitely powered on as it displays the _no signal_ message and goes to sleep (amber light).

Based on the information Asus provides for your specific model of display --> https://www.asus.com/Displays-Deskto...Screen-MB16AH/ the display does NOT appear to have DisplayLink technology inside. As a result, DisplayLink will not be able to help you.

If pressed to make a guess based on your description, I would suspect that your laptop does not support video output via its USB Type-C port which is why the display is not working when connected via a USB Type-C connection.
