Default DisplayLink Driver wont install on ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

Hi everyone, Ive seen this is a pretty common issue but have not yet found the fix for my OS. I am just trying to install the driver for my dell d3100 docking station since my monitors will not work yet with it (im using a dell xps13 developer edition with ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS). I am attaching my log file generated from the support tool. Here is the output from the actual driver:
sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.1.62.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 1.1.62 100%
DisplayLink Linux Software 1.1.62 install script called: install
Distribution discovered: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Installing
Configuring EVDI DKMS module
Registering EVDI kernel module with DKMS
Building EVDI kernel module with DKMS
Installing EVDI kernel module to kernel tree
EVDI kernel module built successfully
Installing x64/DisplayLinkManager
Installing libraries
Installing firmware packages
Installing license file
Adding udev rule for DisplayLink DL-3xxx/5xxx devices
Starting DLM systemd service
Job for displaylink.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status displaylink.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

Let me know if any of you can help with this issue as I would really like to use my monitors sometime soon! Thanks in advance!
