This happens on my system as well (Surface Pro 1 + TOSHIBA dynadock). I tried version 7.9.95.0 of DisplayLink Manager.

It's especially apparent when moving windows between monitors. Usually it's much worse after a full day of work. After a restart, and with non-maximized windows (window shadows sometimes leak onto the next screen) the performance is acceptable.

But the system usually suddenly becomes almost ununsable:

Typing in Outlook (even on main screen) comes to a crawl (1 character/second)
Mouse cursor movements become very jerky
Simple things that are usually completed within milliseconds now suddenly take multiple seconds

Task manager shows low CPU usage, but the fans spin up nonetheless.
