Based on your description I believe that the behaviour that you are experiencing is due to working with lid closed (clamshell mode).
Currently our DisplayLink Manager is not supporting this feature as our engineers are still working on implementing it in our future drivers. What I may recommend right now is to stay with the lid opened or try using our
legacy KEXT driver where the clamshell mode is available for Catalina OS.
