For a $300 docking station, this is a really obvious problem.
Is there any workaround I can use short of returning this device? It's basically useless as it is.

We need more information - what exactly is not working with the legacy software?
Also it is impossible to debug driver issues without logfiles so we would appreciate if you could gather those for analysis:
