Exclamation Announcement about DisplayLink Mac OS X Software

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give you an update on what DisplayLink has been up to with its Mac development over the past couple of months.

1.5 Product Release
We have been polishing up our 1.5 betas to prepare the final production release of DisplayLink Mac 1.5 software.

This release fixes several key issues and annoyances, increases stability and brings improved DisplayLink product support and functionality over the previous 1.1 software release. This software will be released on the DisplayLink Mac download page this week, and I will notify the forum once it is available.

As has been said with previous DisplayLink Mac software releases, we are very restricted with the enhancements and improvements we can deliver, due to the limited access we have to Apple’s OS. Without assistance from Apple, we will still not be able to further improve performance, provide 3D acceleration, or resolve some of the key outstanding bugs.

We know there has been some frustration over the past few months with the progress made with our development, but this is purely down to the issue outlined above. We therefore greatly urge all of you to voice your opinions to Apple, using their feedback system, to raise the awareness of the DisplayLink Mac user base to them, and encourage Apple to engage further with us.

Please Note: This driver only supports 32-bit versions of Snow Leopard. (However read on if you’re a 64-bit Snow Leopard User)

1.6 Mac Beta
We have also been developing our next Mac software release (1.6), which will bring DisplayLink support to 64-bit versions of Snow Leopard. This beta driver will be released in the upcoming weeks, so keep an eye out for the launch of the new “1.6 Mac Release” forum, to get access to this driver.

Again, thank you to everyone one for your support and patience. Oh and of course, if you want to see some significant improvements to our software, please don’t forget to drop Apple a line and speak your mind…

Regards

Seb
