Hi,
I know its still a it early, but back in times i also tried to install the display Link driver on a pre-release 16.04 LTS and it worked very well.
I allready updated most of our computers to ubuntu 18.04 LTS cause it will be the "future LTS" But had to find out that the Display-Link Dock wont work.
I did the whon installation process step-by-step link with 16.04 but it ends at:
Code:
notger@notger-FZ-G1ACBDXM3:~/displaylink$ sudo ./displaylink-driver-4.1.9.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

PS.: id be very happy with any Beta-realease Driver too, cause now without Docking station functionality most Notebook are more-less useless
