So I found the solution to the problem by installing the official driver for ubuntu 18.04 (https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1261) and the real problem was hidden here for me...

Solution on github worked for me...

The solution on https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/displaylink-debian worked for me with ubuntu 18.04 upgraded from 16.04. it finds the HDMI monitor attached to the USB as a generic monitor and not LG,...
