Like 99% of cables are USB-C to DP/HDMI (they are NOT two-way, but one-way) - they work from USB-C...

Unfortunately, macOS is blocking itself... there is not much DisplayLink can do here. Only Apple can change macOS' behavior.

HDMI to DP adapters are VERY rare. Like 99,9% of all DP to HDMI adapters are one-way adapters - meaning the DP connector must be plugged into the source and HDMI into the monitor.

Officially, DisplayLink supports up to 60Hz. Windows does (sometimes) allows higher frequency, but it may not work correctly and issue may arise.

It looks like HDMI1 and DP outputs are based on DisplayLink. In comparison, HDMI2 uses native Video over USB-C.

DisplayLink does mention that just DL-6xxx-based docks are supported. I would assume that MB165B is using an older DisplayLink chip (that is not currently supported) as using DL-6xxx for 1 monitor...
