USB3 TO HDMI is offline due to a user mode driver crash

We have about a dozen HP Spectre x360s running the latest and up to date version of Windows 10 Home -- DisplayLink USB to HDMI adapters are all but unusable due to drivers crashing.

The crash can happen at any time, but seems to be more frequent when users are trying to reconnect after taking their laptop to a meeting, etc.

The crashes result in monitors that turn off or worst case, computers powering off unexpectedly. These issues are always due to the aforementioned "user mode driver crash...".

UEFI firmware and all drivers are up to date.

We utilize a sort of docking station consisting of a 7 port USB 3.0 hub and various peripherals -- mouse, keyboard, webcam, sennheiser headset, and of course a DL adapter that feeds 1 of 2 monitors. The 2nd monitor is connected directly to a Thunderbolt 3 port.

Some of these machines are brand new out of the box, updated, and then put into a users hands. Within a few days, DL starts crashing, and users are complaining. This has been going on for months. During this time I have done clean installs with the latest drivers, tried different adapters, no change in behavior.

The only thing that DOES work is throwing these things to the bin and installing a Thunderbolt3 to dual HDMI adapter by StarTech. It's a somewhat expensive solution to a big problem.

Strangely, all of my Mac users have Zero issues with DisplayLink products and most of our machines are Mac (10.14.6).

Thanks!
