Display Not Working - Driver Error (Win 10, Dell D6000)
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I've got a Dell D6000 docking station, it works fine with my work laptop, but not my home laptop. The docking station functions as a usb hub (connected keyboard and mouse work fine), however does not function with the external display. In device manager there is the following error message on the DisplayLink display adapter: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful." The knowledge base (https://support.displaylink.com/know...-on-windows-10) suggests that this is a UMDF issue, however I'm not sure how exactly I would go about resolving this. Attached is the support information file. Any help would be appreciated. |
Hello DeltaCain,
Thank you for contacting DisplayLink. Great that you have already provided such detailed description with log files. Thanks to it I was able to verify that you are using an older version of our Windows Driver(9.1). Please firstly upgrade to the newest one(9.3M1), following this link: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1532 Furthermore, please upgrade Firmware in your D6000 with this link: https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk...sal-dock-d6000 Thank you for checking it and letting me know if this resolves your issue. However, if you would have again this problem, please gather the log files one more time. Best regards, Jakub |

Hi Jakub,
Thanks for your reply, I have installed the suggested driver and firmware updates, but the issue persists. I've provided log files. Thanks, Lachlan (DeltaCain71) |
Hi Lachlan,
Thank you for your patience. I have verified the log files and I see there possible issues during installation process. Please try the following: 1. Run our EndUser cleaner: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?d=64 2. Install the newest driver This will allow for a clean installation process and will give more insight into this case. If it won't resolve your issue, please follow up one more time with the logs. Best regards, Jakub |

Hi Jakub,
Unfortunatly, still no luck with that fix. I spent some time performing various Windows and driver updates, then repeated all of your suggested fixes, all to no avail. I've attached the support logs for the current setup and here's some info from the properies window in Device Manager: The Device Status is: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful." and the event log has the following error: "Device USB\VID_17E9&PID_6006&MI_00\7&18fba3e9&9&0000 had a problem starting. Driver Name: oem104.inf Class Guid: {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} Service: WUDFRd Lower Filters: Upper Filters: IndirectKmd Problem: 0x1F Problem Status: 0xC0000001" I hope all this info helps you to find some resolution to the issue. Thanks, Lachlan |
Hi Jakub,
I've done a bit more troubleshooting and I've confirmed using the command line that the involved service 'WUDFRd' is running before connecting the device, but upon device connection it attempt to install the drivers and the service stops with "WIN32_EXIT_CODE: 31 (0x1f)". I also performed a full windows reset and the problem persisted. Any assistance would be thoroughly appreciated. Thanks, Lachlan |
