External screen not refreshed

Hi,

I have a sony vaio vgp upr1 dock station with Windows 7, displaylink upgraded to 5.5. On my external samsung P2370hd screen, connected thru hdmi, movies aren't refreshed (images don't moves) unless a menu is displayed above the image.

This occurs both with VLC and Windows media player. There is no problem if I connect the hdmi cable directly to the vaio (avoiding the vgp upr1 and displaylink).

I sent the question to displaylink contact form but got no answer.

May someone help me ?

Thanks

Olivier

Please download the Windows DisplayLink debug tool from the website below, then gather the system information and attach the zip file to this thread.
This may give us more information as to what is wrong.

Could you update your primary graphics driver 7.15.11.7676 Dated 2008-10-16 and see if the problem continues?

Thanks

Yes, this has been done, both for nvidia graphic card and monitor, there is no update available.

By the way, I just noticed that if a small window like Faststone capture is placed on the screen, the movie is refreshed. It seems that the movie by itself does'nt start screen update, but if a windows form is above it (which is not convenient !) update is done.

Are you running in Basic or Aero mode? Please refer to this FAQ to see the difference between these two modes.

Thanks

Basic mode.

DisplayLink recommends customers use Aero mode. Please change the mode and see if the problem continues.

Thanks!

Good guess, it works :) ! Thanks very much for your help, I did many tests, drivers updates, but would never have found that by myself.

Looks like a bug isn't ? will that be corrected ? I don't like much Aero, and especially alt-tab layout.
