Grey Screen with Citrix and DisplayLink

Hi, everyone

I'm using MacBook Air (M2, 2022) macOS Version 12.6).

For work I need Citrix, which is first connected via a VPN.

As soon as I open the login window of the VPN (company's own VPN) and I have activated both screens with display link, then I don't see the login window. It's all grey. If I disable the screens and only use the MAC screen then I can log in.

Do any of you know this problem?

I have the new version of Display Link and MAC.

Hello,

I am having the same issue. Could anyone please provide support?
The moment I connect a display using Display Link, the screen on Citrix changes to grey.

I am using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) version 12.6
Citrix workspace Version: 22.06.1.51 (2206)
Display Link Manager 1.7.1

Grey Screen on Citrix Window when using Display link docking station

Hi

When i connect my mac laptop (Mac Book Pro M2) to the docking station (Plugable USB-C Docking station) the two external monitors work fine and i can dual screen between the two.

Citrix itself works fine as i can log on using by employer credentials, VPN etc. and the separate virtual desktop window appears. However it is completely grey.

I know the citrix window works because if i remove the lead connecting the laptop to the docking station, the grey window is no longer grey and i can see my remote desktop.

Details of software below. Any help would be much appreciated.
p.s. This was working fine a couple of days ago.

Mac OS: Version 13.1 (22C65)
Display Link Manager 1.8.0 (Build: 63.163)
Citrix Viewer: Version: 23.01.0.16 (2301)

Also getting this

I am also getting exactly the same. Using Mac (Ventura 13.3.1) with display link and CitrixWorkspace. Works perfectly on Mac alone but connected via a dock to monitors I just get a grey screen.

Worked fine 3 days ago.

Gray screen in Citrix

Same issue as described above. Has anyone found resolution?

I am facing this issue as well for months now.
Also contacted customer support but they couldn't address the issue.

Requesting community members to share any known resolution/workaround,

Hello,

You can confirm with Citrix support but the root cause of this issue seems to be the 'Screen Recording' permission granted for DisplayLink Manager in macOS settings.

Unfortunately when using DisplayLink technology products, the ‘Screen Recording’ feature is required. This is the way that the DisplayLink powered devices can see the virtual displays being rendered by the DisplayLink Manager App. This requirement was set in place by Apple we are unfortunately unable to prevent the screen recording from being required.

As this permission is granted Citrix thinking the screen is being recorded (when in fact it is not) to protect user data will open greyed out - could be a security feature in Citrix. I am currently unable to suggest any fixes for this issue other than revoking the Screen Recording for DisplayLink Manager, shutting down DisplayLink Manager or disconnecting the DisplayLink powered device while using Citrix (which as result will disable the external monitors). If the issue is not present in built in screen or external monitors not connected to DisplayLink powered device then one can also use Citrix in those screens.

Grey screen when using citrix

Hi There,
It's October 2023 so just checking on this thread. Has anyone managed to find a fix for this grey screen issue when using together with Citrix?

Regards,
Sreenivasan
