Upgrade Ubuntu 18.04 / 20.04 DisplayLink broken
Hi there,
after upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 my previous perfectly working display link is broken. Also many different tries to fix it failed. So going back to community and asking for a new approach. Having a HP 840 G3 and G4 (on both same issue) Tried also different DisplayLink USB Docks with same result Only stable working Dock is the original HP Dock via Dock-Port of Laptop, but uses other connection path. Here my system Code:
uname -a Code:
sudo displaylink-installer --help I have also installed the latest evdi via documented path here https://displaylink.org/forum/showpo...53&postcount=3 Code:
dkms status Code:
lsusb Code:
systemctl status displaylink-driver.service Code:
cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager Code:
grep '/usr/s\?bin' /etc/systemd/system/display-manager.service Can anyone help me out of the dark? Code:
xrandr --listproviders |
noone around with a idea?

:mad::mad::mad::mad: really no hints? |
Same Problem
I am having the same problem. I also noticed that trying to restart displaylink-driver.service
gives the error: Code:
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'evdi': Operation not permitted |
Here is the Fix

You need to disable Wayland Then you need to turn off secure boot in your BIOS. In fact I just tested this without disabling Wayland and it works just fine. Disabling secure boot is all you need to do if you are getting the same error as me when you restart displaylink-driver.service |
