DisplayLink causing WindowServer to crash on HighSierra
 

Ever since upgrading to High Sierra, I've intermittently had an issue where waking my displays from sleep will cause WindowServer to crash. I have two displays connected directly to my MBP and one connected via DisplayLink. When the issue occurs, the two displays connected directly to my MBP flicker briefly and go dark, but the DisplayLink monitor stays on.

If I unplug the DisplayLink adapter, one of my other displays usually turns on, but the other stays dark. The only way to get out of this state is to reboot.

Looking at the System Reports, I can see that every time this happens, there's a WindowServer crash file generated.

I had a case open with Apple support, and they are blaming the DisplayLink driver saying it's unsupported.

Has anyone else had this issue?
