Mac 1.8 Alpha release

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All

I'm pleased to announce that v1.8 Alpha 1 release is now available. The major features of this release are:
  • Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) experimental support
  • Prototype of new resolution management to fix 10.7.3 and 10.8 rotation issues

The DisplayLink software can be installed on any Intel-based desktop or laptop Apple Mac computer running the following client versions:
  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
  • Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
  • Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 build 12A128p

Note: Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.x and Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.x are not supported by this driver version. Version 1.7.x is the last version to support these operating systems.

The software is attached below. Please refer to the release notes for more information.

Thanks

Wim

Yay! Looks like I'm the first respondent, and double yay, it works! (see pic; apologies for messy desk :-) ).

Left screen (rotated) is using the built-in Mini Displayport, centre screen is obviously the Mac itself (late 2009 27"), right screen (rotated) is connected via the DisplayLink, an HIS MultiView II. OS is 10.7.3.

Thanks guys for all your hard work; I'll keep providing feedback on this version and keep testing any more alphas or betas as they come out.

Thank you! I'll test this out later tonight when I get back to my office! :D

I installed the Alpha and it brought up the vertical monitor in rotated mode. But the resolution is off ... I'm only offered 1200x1920 on that display. My main monitor still has all resolutions available. I use 1680x1050 on the main and like to use 1050x1680 on the vertical, the 1200x1920 is pretty poor for text. These are both Acer monitors.

I also noticed that the monitors did not redrive after sleep. I had to turn them both off, open the MacBook to log in, then turn them on and close the MacBook.

If you tell me what information you need and how to get it I'll be glad to post.

Cant see rotation option in display preferences. Does anybody else have same problem?

OK, I figured out. Hold down the Command+Option keys and click on the “Display” icon.

Finally! I've been checking Displaylink several times every day for this driver.

EDIT: And just ahead of the iPad event tomorrow, which means I can have more live-blogs open. This is great!

Installed it this morning and installed fine. Rebooted opened display prefs and I didnt see an option for rotation.

Held down CMD+OPTION+SHIFT and clicked the display prefs and I was able to rotate my monitor. Worked for a few hours and then I got a kernal panic. Now the display is black and wont be recognized at all.

Here is a dump of what happened: http://pastebin.com/xzzgJEzW

Let me know if you need anything else.
