Dell D3100

Hello,

I recently purchased a Dell Vostro 7500 and a Dell D3100. The first external monitor works great using Display Port. However, when plugging in the second monitor, (using 1 of the HDMI ports on the Dock, it has 2 HDMI and 1 Display Port), using a Display Port to HDMI cable, the second monitor is showing up in Device Manager however it will not display video or show up in Windows 10 Display Settings.

The Computer is up to date with the latest Windows 10 Updates, Dell Driver Updates, Nvidia Drivers and I reinstalled the Display Link Software. I have also tried swapping the monitors as well as a HDMI to Display port Adapter but no luck.

I'm wondering what else I can do or if I have to use an HDMI Capable Monitor.

Thanks!

Hello,

Can you please confirm which end is HDMI and which end is DisplayPort?
These converting cables have a direction. They will only work as source DisplayPort and monitor HDMI, not the other way. The cheaper cable work because the DisplayPort connectors can output HDMI signals (it is called dual mode DisplayPort or DP++).

I do not know of any consumer adapter you can purchase to convert HDMI signal to a DisplayPort monitor. If it exists, I believe it will still be cheaper for you to purchase a standalone USB->DisplayPort adapter: https://www.displaylink.com/products...num=1&vid_dp=1

The HDMI is plugged into the Dell 3100 and the Display Port into the Monitor. So, you're saying if I get one of those USB to DP adapters and plug it into the dock, it will work?

Ok, the cable works the other way, not this one.
You can indeed get a USB-DP adapter and plug the USB in the dock. DisplayLink technology can go through USB hubs, it supports daisy-chaining products.
Here is a list of adapters we have tested and certified: https://www.displaylink.com/products/usb-adapters
Kind regards,
