Failed to Initialize D3D 9 Device
 
When ever i try to play Firefall or just about any other game i get an error that says "Failed to Initialize D3D 9 Device (E_INVALIDARG). Check if DirectX installed correctly." I have tried to reinstall DirectX which does not help. The only thing that fixes it is to uninstall Display Link 7.3M1

Any idea's? I am kind of getting tired of having to uninstall display link to play a game for a couple hours then reinstall it to use my extra monitors for work.

Hi,

Stopping the DisplayLinkManager service before gaming might be an option.

OK, please attach the logs as described here:

Also let me know what mode your displays are in (Extend/Mirror/Set as Main Monitor).

I am using extended display.

I have the zip file. The page says to send it to you but doesn't list an address. So it is attached to this post.

Hi,

Can you update the Intel graphics driver to the latest available?

Also what other Games display the same error message?

I updated it and now i am getting a new error. "Failed to initialize redhanded(error=0xd9172371)..."

League of Legends wasn't working last time i tried it either. I just tried it but it has a large patch i will have to do first. So will test once it finishes.

After another restart it went back to the original error message.
