M2 MacBook Air (2022) & External Display Not Working
Hello all, I just received my My MacBook Air (2022) with macOS Monterey 12.5 installed.
My external display does not work while plugged into my intpw Thunderbolt 3 Dual Monitor Docking Station (model IF508). This docking station uses a display port connection for an external monitor. The monitor is an ACER S271HL with an HDMI port. I used an HDMI to DisplayPort cable by WARRKY (DH1 Series). I downloaded DisplayLink 1.7.1 and the external display still does not work. Can anyone help me figure out what I've done wrong? I am not sure what more information to provide. Thank you in advance! |
I'm wondering if the issue might be that the monitor may not support a DisplayPort connection even with the correct cable (HDMI to DisplayPort)?
This kind of technical stuff is a bit new to me. |

A. That docking station does not have DisplayLink technology inside of it. As a result, DisplayLink will not be able to assist you. B. The DisplayPort video output of the docking station you have appears to be a 'pure' DisplayPort video output. If that is the case, you will need to use an 'Active' DisplayPort to HDMI adapter in order to convert the DisplayPort video output to a HDMI video input. Your description of the DisplayPort to HDMI video cable you are using suggests it is a 'Passive' cable, which will not work. |
Thank you so much for that helpful information!
