I moved your post the Mac section of the forum, because the 'General' section you originally posted within is not for problem reports.

Can you please provide the brand and specific model number of the device you are using, or a direct web link to the product?

I ask because the behavior you describe suggests that the device you are using does NOT have DisplayLink technology within it, and I would like to review its specifications online.

It's flaky on the M1.
The M1 only supports 1 monitor as of yet. DisplayLink allows for more.

But you probably have to plug 1 monitor in, wait for it to show up, then plug in the 2nd one.

Each day at work, I have to unplug the 2nd monitor, connect to the usb-c hub, wait for the 1st monitor to come up... then plug in the 2nd one.

It's a little weird. The earlier version would crash the whole display and return me to the login screen on my M1. Now the monitors just don't show up at all unless I plug them into the hub one at a time.
Or at least unplug the 2nd, plug in the hub, then when the 1st monitor comes up, you can plug in the 2nd one.

Give that a shot. My multi-monitor works fine at work if I do that. Annoying. Almost as annoying as the lack of rotation support.

Note: My USB-C hub uses HDMI output to the monitors. The first monitor should come up natively without displaylink. Displaylink manager software is needed for the 2nd. You might have a different experience on DVI or DisplayPort or whatever.
