Additional monitors are forced to be OFF after updates

Hi All!

Faced new totally no-go problem:

Setup:
* Dell XPS 13 '18, Core i7
* Ubuntu 20.04
* Xorg
* DELL 3100
* 3x Dell 24" 1920x1200 monitors

0. Everything is still working superfine under Windows. This is not a hardware problem.

1. Everything was working nice for me from the release of Ubuntu 20.04
2. Last time everything worked for me in Ubunto 20.04 was this Dec 21 2020.

3. After couple of days of not touching the setup, today (Dec 24) - whatever I do - it is not possible to turn ON any additional monitors.
Monitors are detected well (I dynamically see when I plugin/plugoff some of those), but they are in the OFF state! And when I in display settings ON all of them (or only some) and press "Apply" button in the display configuration... whatever I juste wait or I press "Keep Changes" or "Revert Settings" - I fall back to a state when ALL additional monitors are just OFF in settings, and I am again is only with laptop screen.
So - not possible to ON any additional monitor, when things worked fine all these monthes before.

Could you please advise me?

Upgrade to Ubuntu 20.10 - does not change anything... still not able to "on" monitors that I see as "off" in the "Displays->Settings"... :'(

Looks like Dell 3100 dock station is dead for Linux. :mad:

Ubuntu 20.10 and kernel 5.10.4 = the same. No changes. Does not work... :(

After reconnect - now need to start manually to see monitors listed again..
(sudo systemctl start displaylink-driver.service)

Fixed for Ubuntu 20.10 and kernel 5.10.4 !

1. Do this:

https://displaylink.org/forum/showpo...9&postcount=19

2. On top of done:

Verify that file
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-evdidevice.conf

has
Section "OutputClass"
Identifier "DisplayLink"
MatchDriver "evdi"
Driver "modesetting"
Option "AccelMethod" "none"
EndSection

inside it!

3. Reboot.
4. MAY BE, you will need to run sudo systemctl enable displaylink-driver.service
5. Profit.
