Screen disconnects from time to time

1 Attachment(s)
Hello

I'm using a D6000 together with a DELL Latitude E6230 in Ubuntu 19.10.
It happens from time to time that the display simply turns black. I then have to disconnect the D6000 and reconnect. The picture returns and I can continue working.

I'm using the same D6000 with a newer Notebook in Windows 10 without these problems.

To be honest, it doesn't happen as often as it did in the past. But it happened again today. I disconnected the D6000, reconnected it and then collected the logs which I'll attach. I deleted around 1000 log files in the ZIP as it was > 350 MB big.

Thanks for any help

Same Issue

I think we've been having the same issue. In my case, I have two Dell Monitors connected to my Dell Ubuntu 18.04 laptop through the Dell D6000 Dock. What I see happening is sometimes my monitors will go dark and say "Going into Power Save mode" as if the dock is not connected to my laptop. I then have to disconnect and reconnect the doc to my laptop. It happens a lot more often for me. It's frustrating. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

No change yet, but I did get feedback from DisplayLink that they're going to take a look at my logs. Let's hope they find something.

Same issue here with a Dell Latitude 5500 running Ubuntu 18.04. I have to do it 5 - 6 times during my work day. Sometimes the screens totally freeze and disconnecting/reconnecting the dock doesn't fix it. Eventually the USB ports stop working and I have to reboot to get them back.

Happens also with non-Dell machines

I'm having the same issue, using an HP Laptop 15 (5RA17EA#UUZ) with Ubuntu 19.10, connected to a Dell D6000 Dock and two Full-HD Samsung monitors. The very same dock runs flawlessly when connected to my business machine (Lenovo P50 with Windows 10). In my case, the issue usually occurs once probably 10 mins after starting the PC, after that it works - except for today, when I had to unplug the dock several times.

Hello,

Please upgrade the firmware for your D6000 docking stations.
The manufacturer provides with a file that allows users to upgrade the firmware but only on a Windows based PC.
The link to the file can be found below:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us...-d6000/drivers

Download it and update while connected to Windows machine. After the update please verify if it will be working on your regular computers.

Best regards,
Katarzyna

ubuntu 19.10 display disconnecting

2 Attachment(s)
from time to time the display disconnects on its own.
it is necessary to disconnect usb and reconnect to and that they work again.
obs. firmware updated via windows made available by dell.
As instructed by Kasia I used the error reporting tool.
follows 2 files with the following situations:
1- report running after error with removal and placement of usb, screens working.

2- report executed after error with black screens without removing the usb and replacing.

Just installed the version that was just released (5.3). Unfortunately, it's even worse now. Screen disconnected after around 30 minutes and this time I even got logged out and lost my work that wasn't saved.

Is there ANY update on this? Unfortunately I didn't get any feedback from DisplayLink, my logfiles were simply ignored.

At the moment, I simply stopped using the laptop on the D6000. While the peformance problems were solved by activating the internal display under Ubuntu LTS 20.04, the display still disconnects from time to time.
Even worse, sometimes I am simply logged out of my X session and I lose all unsaved work. Because of that, I simply stopped using the Docking Station.

Hello,

Excuse late response, to correct the problem you need to comment out "load-module module-suspend-on-idle" in /etc/pulse/default.pa:

#load-module module-suspend-on-idle

Let us know if the issue persists.

Thank you,
Katarzyna
