New Driver dropping frames, other issues
 

Using a Dell D3100 with a Dell Inspiron 3153.

Operating system is:

Elementary OS 5.1.5 Hera
Built on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS
Linux 5.3.0-59-generic
GTK 3.22.30


Initially installed Driver version 5.3.1 for Ubuntu last month. Vast improvement over version 5.2 which I had been running.

I keep all of my software up to date via AppCenter in Elementary OS (or sometimes via apt-get).

Ran updates last night.

Today, using the Dell 3100, I experience major frame drops, even in most basic usage when connected to my external monitor - a 40-inch Element Television, resolution is 1900x1080 - which is connected to the Dell D3100 via HDMI, and the Dell D3100 is connected to the Dell 3153 via USB 3.0.

Issue occurs on all USB ports, both 3.0 and 2.0.

Issue occurs using new known-good USB 3.0 cable.

Rolled system back to state prior to install of updates; issue RESOLVED.

It is reasonable to assume that moving forward, operating system updates may be run without degrading video performance.

Please advise how to resolve this issue.
