Macbook Screen is black after disconnecting

i use a Dell D6000 with Displaylink chip. there is 1 monitor connected via displayport. i use this with a macbook 16" from 2019.

the following behavior:
i can connect and disconnect the macbook from the displaylink, everything works.
if i now unplug the macbook and take it with me somewhere else, then open the lid - then i am in a strange intermediate state which i have captured here once on a video.

the touchbar reacts. offers me the possibility to mirror or extend the display. but nothing is shown. the actual screen remains black.

Just the current case is from my macbook 16" from 2019. a few weeks old.
but the behavior also happened with the previous model with 15" from 2017. Both under catalina and under mojave. only slowly it annoys me so much that I consider not to use another displaylink product anymore.

Same

I am experiencing the same issue as above on OS Catalina and 2 27" LG Monitors. Have to restart the machine in order for the display to come back on.

System Sleep Wake process not completing

I was able to identify what the issue is, but have yet to found a solution. Basically DisplayLink is causing the System Sleep Wake process from working properly. This happens fairly consistently in OS Catalina.

Try disabling "Automatic Graphics Switching" in System Preferences > Energy Saver. We've had similar issues and this seems to have stabilized the issue. It's really a workaround until DisplayLink figures out the root cause...
