Memory leak in latest driver
2 Attachment(s)
Hello DisplayLink,
I have diagnosed a memory leak in the dlcdcncm6_x64.sys driver which causes my 8 gig of rams on my laptop to rapidly be allocated and then the system crashes. I have attached the usual log files as well as a dump file from the wdk tool poolmon, which shows the tag "NBLP" to be allocating memory and never realeasing it. It seems to has side effects as not all of the pool is taken up by this driver. |

Any news ?

Hi,
I've raised this internally for investigation. Thanks, James |
Hi,
Can you let me know if this happens if the dock is connected to a USB 2.0 port? Thanks, James |
Hi James,
I did a quick test over usb 2 and the problem still arrises. My Non-Paged pool was at 218 megs and after transferring a 700 meg file, it went up to 1.3 gigs. Besically, it`s like the buffers used to copy the data from the nework card to os are never released. I am a software developer if i can assist with anything special. Since i have declared the problem, i have upgraded to Windows 8.1 rtm and the problem tstill arises. |
Hi,
Thanks for the info. Aside from the applications listed that the support tool captures (in the Installed_Programs.txt file) are there any other applications installed? Do you have any filter drivers installed? Can you provide details of any networking related software you have installed? If possible can you provide the logs from your Windows 8.1 install as well? Thanks, James |

Here are the log files for the Windows 8.1 setup.
I do development work so my installed software is basically Visual Studio 2013 Visual Studio 2012 Office 2013 SQL Server 2012 and a few utilities... no special filter drivers installed |
I've PMed you about this. Could you check your inbox.
Thanks Wim |
Same here
Windows 8 Samsung S9, latest driver memory leak for me too, it consumes 8GB after a few hours, more quickly sometimes.

I reverted from 7.4M0 to 7.3M1 and the problem disappeared. I got a warning about wrong version in the displaylink hardware when I downgraded, but it works ok.
