Exteral display don't work after installing DisplayLink on HP ZBook 15

Exteral display don't work after installing DisplayLink on HP ZBook 15 G2.

After installing DisplayLink driver, duplicating the laptop display to an external monitor, while NOT connected to docking station that uses DisplayLink, doesn't work. No errors are displayed, but external display remains blank. It's believed to have something to do with the ZBook having Intel AND NVidia graphics in the laptop, but haven't been able to confirm this.

Correcting this involves the removal of the driver plus some extensive cleanup and resetting of other drivers and settings.

Does ANYONE have any experience with the HP Zbook and DisplayLink?

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi Miguel,

I think I understand your issue but wanted to check if these steps also reproduce this issue:

1. Install DisplayLink driver and connect DisplayLink enabled docking station to your notebook
2. Connect external monitor to docking station
3. Remove external monitor from docking station and connect it directly to your notebook

Result: Nothing appears on the external display when you are mirroring / extending the desktop

Thanks,
James

James,

the steps to replicatpte the problems are:

1) connect external display to ZBook DisplayPort (Monitor or Projector)
2) use Windows 'P' to duplicate laptop display
3) use Windows 'P' to cancel display duplication
4) install display link drivers
5) Connect docking station - use as normal
6) disconnect docking station
7) Connect external display to DisplayPort
8) Use Windows 'P' to duplicate laptop display
- Option to duplicate display no longer available
