USB3 Hub not recognised by Windows 10

I've been using the DisplayLink video and Ethernet over USB3 technology very happily for some years on my Windows 7 laptop. This is via a USB3 universal laptop dock made by Lindy.

Windows 7 didn't have USB3 drivers built in, and I used, as directed, the USB3 drivers provided by Intel.

On upgrading to Windows 10, the USB3 hub part of the Lindy dock (beyond which are the video and Ethernet ports) is recognised in Device Manager as "Generic Superspeed USB Hub" - which uses the default Microsoft USB3 driver - but with an error: event manager reports the device " had a problem starting".

Because Windows can't see the DisplayLink hardware attached beyond the hub, the updated software will install, but can't see the DisplayLink adaptors either.

I realise this is really a USB3 hub problem with the Lindy device (no firmware update is available) but does anyone here have any ideas or suggestions?

Hi,

Can you post a link to the product in question?

Thanks,
James

Screen Clipping

1 Attachment(s)
On the left, the device correctly appearing in Windows 7 Device Manager.

On the right, the Windows 10 Device Manager error. The USB 3 Hub (Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub) doesn't function using the Microsoft USB 3 driver in Windows 10 - so the DisplayLink adaptors attached to it aren't visible to the OS (and therefore to the DisplayLink software)

Firmware upgrade provided solution

Thanks for earlier reply: I did post a link to the device, but that reply still hasn't been approved!

A similar problem had presented itself on a Windows 8 laptop as discussed on Lindy's own technical forums. The same updated firmware provided a fix on Windows 10:

The device in question is this one:
