New Equipment Not Configured Correctly

Good Day. I recently purchased a new Dell Latitude 3520 (Windows 11) along with the Dell D3100 Docking Station. So far I have everything working reasonably well except for a couple of things I hope to get ironed out.

First, when I close the laptop, the display on my dual monitors shut off. Additionally, the docking station isn't charging my laptop.

I found that the docking station can charge the laptop if I use the USB-C input on the laptop, so I've ordered an adaptor for the cable from the docking station to the input USB-C input on the laptop. Hopefully that fixes the powering problem.

I would like to keep the laptop closed to protect the screen and keyboard when not in use. I have set the power to stay on (Never selected) when not in use and that doesn't seem to do anything.

Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help.

I found that there is a lid switch activation I could turn off in the BIOS that solved the open lid issue. Hopefully the adapter takes care of the other problem.

Thanks anyway for the interest.

According to the description provided by Dell --> https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell...pc-accessories the D3100 does not have the ability to charge the host computer.

To quote Dell's website:

"Dell Docking Station – USB 3.0 (D3100)

The Dell™ Docking Station – USB 3.0 connects your laptop to up to three additional monitors, various external devices and the Internet with a single cable. The dock does not charge your laptop but provides USB charging to peripherals."
