View Full Version : Black Screen on some streaming sites

Hi. I have an M1 running 12.3.1 OSX and latest 1.6.1 driver from DisplayLink. I have detected that since the driver needs "Screen Recording" permission, it may lead to have a black screen in some streaming sites, as soon as you remove the Screen Recording permissions from the Privacy Settings, you will be able to watch the content. It also works if you completely quit DisplayLink agent.

Is this something Apple needs to fix? The streaming site? Or maybe Synaptics? The truth is that we need it to be fixed so we can use our DisplayLink adapters and watch movies/shows at the same time.

Thanks,

Exact same thing here, except removing Screen Recording permissions doesn't do anything. Just happened this morning after DisplayLink updated. Hope they fix this soon.

Try using the Opera browser.

It looks like Alpha version 1.8 (https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/macos).0 is patched for this issue.

I might be speaking too soon since I've just tried a pre-recorded event that I know wasn't working before, but it looks promising. I will need to try a live event this weekend and let you know.

I just tested out 1.8.0alpha and can confirm it did NOT solve this issue. I am trying to use Udemy and it still outputs a blank video.

Come on @displaylink you really need to get this solved. Work with apple to not make the computer think its screen is being recorded when it is really just outputting a display. This would help with notification settings as well.
