With DisplayLink 5.4.1, a 5.11.0-37-generic Linux kernel, Ubuntu 20.04 and Nvidia 470.63.01 drivers, changing display config by GUI or Xrandr or even unplugging external display causes system freeze and reboot is the only option. System won't boot if external monitors are connected. Nvidia settings says PRIME displays cant be controlled by it.
X.org X Server version 1.20.11
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
pixman 0.38.4

Also attaching the DL Support tool zip file.

I have the same issue
I'm on KDE Neon 5.23, Kernel 5.11.0.38-generic, Nvidia 470.74, X.org 1.20.11, X Protocol 11.0

I can't connect the monitor before the first login, otherwise the UI freezes and fans ramp up a little, same issue happens if I disconnect the monitor with the laptop on.
The only way to recover from these freezes is to force a power off by holding the power button

I'm experiencing the exact same freeze on Ubuntu 20.04, nvidia 465.19.01

Happens if displaylink connected during boot, or when disconnecting.

I have the same situation. My docking station works perfectly on Windows. The problem is the same as described in the posts above on several distributions. I am currently running Mint, but also tried it on ubuntu and pop.
If I start the laptop with displaylink device and monitors attached it won't boot, it waits on blank empty screen (not even Ctrl + Alt + F1 works).
Power button is the only solution. The same happens if I unplug the dock when monitors are connected although in this case the laptop screen keeps the last picture it had before unpluging the dock...

I also noticed that the computer freezes when I try to change the order of my screens, after clicking apply the computer freezes. This only happens on NVIDIA drivers (460, 470, 495 beta) if I use nouveau opensource drivers everything works fine, but the performance is less then fine
I am currently running on 5.13 kernel but also tried 5.15 and many in between.

My computer:
XMG neo 17
Ryzen 9 5900HX
Nvidia GTX 3070

I hope this is fixed in the near future because I am loosing my mind over it... looking to switch to windows in meantime...
