- Windows 10, 64bit
- HP Spectre 15.5" (December 2016)
---- installed with Intel HD Graphics
---- Intel HD Graphics manager panel does not recognize that the USB3 external display is connected
- (from the properties window) = DisplayLink Manager ver 8.1.843.0
- (from the Control Panel programs window) DisplayLink Graphics Driver ver 8.1.848.0
- AOC E1659Fwux external USB3 powered monitor with auto-rotate functionality

Issue:
Unable to enable auto-rotate or force screen orientation rotate on AOC monitor

Description:
In DisplayLink Manager, selection for...
"Lock Rotation of this display" is gray (unchangeable) and selection is "on"/
Otherwise, the AOC monitor appears fully functional

Wants:
To enable my AOC monitor to auto-rotate when the monitor is physically rotated from landscape to portrait.

Steps I have taken:
- Fully uninstalled DisplayLink and re-installed from DisplayLink.com

Any thoughts for steps I have not appropriately executed that is preventing ability to rotate the AOC monitor display either a manual configuration or the automatic auto-rotate feature.?

Hello,

Could you please go to Windows Settings > System > About?
What Version and OS Build do you have on that screen?

Auto-rotation is not functional at the moment on v1607+.
You would need to right click on the desktop and then select display settings, then change the orientation there.

Kind regards,
Alban

1) Do you know when v1607+ will be supported for auto-rotate?

2) How do I get to where those "lock rotation" settings are available? Is there some type of application I open to alter the settings of Display Link?

Hello,

It would depend on the brand and model.
In driver 8.4 M0, we re-introduced the plumbing between the sensor and Windows 10.
Asus has an add-on application to read that sensor information and do the mode change. I'm not sure if they have publicly released its new version yet.
In this OS, a standard device driver is not allowed to change rotation, layout or change resolution. This is why it has to be done by an application.

I would invite you to contact your device manufacturer to ask for this.If they need our help or code change, I can schedule them.

Kind regards,
Alban
