I cannot delete the branch "DisplayLink" in the registry.
Error pops up: "Access denied".
Also for all sub items in the branch. Have difficulties to
install the software because of an access denied error
message and tried now to deinstall the software completely
to be prepared for a new installation.
Have also set the service DisplayLinkManager to manual
and rebooted the machine so that this service is not running.
No success.
I would like to deinstall the DisplayLink software.
Please can anybody help. That would be great.

Regards from Germany
Sam

Hi Sam,

Have you tried the End User Cleaner (support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/724494-cannot-upgrade-or-uninstall-displaylink-software)?

If you do by hand, you'd need to check nothing is currently running and might need to steal ownership of the key which is a bit more work.

Kind regards,
Alban

Yes, have tried it now. But the branch was not deleted.

How to do this? Have tried to reinstall the driver. But there is a non accessable key (see screenshot)...

If you reinstalled the driver, maybe the service is running.
Unfortunately, my German is too rusty to understand the message.

Here is an article on getting key ownership: Take ownership of a registry key (http://www.howtogeek.com/77878/take-ownership-of-or-assign-full-permission-for-a-registry-key-in-windows-7/)

Oh sorry - the translation is:

"Value Activity cannot write in key \Software\DisplayLink\Products
\DefaultProduct\OnNewDevice.
Please check if you have sufficent access rights for this key or
contact your support personnel."

I will try your tip "getting ownership". It seems that this is the problem...
