Hi, i bought a D3100 and P2715Q to using the display external in 3840 x 2160 resolution, but it have much latency.

My spec:

- Notebook M3800
- Windows 8.1 x64
- Dock Dell D3100 (DisplayLink)
- Monitor P2715Q 4k (3840 x 2160)
- The dock drive was downloaded in dell website (I tried 7.7 M4 and 7.4 M2 too)
- I using the DisplayPort cable (DP - DP), and i tried the mDP - DP too.

What should I do?

Can you describe 'much latency'?

We are capable of 30Hz update, which isn't the best, but good for most purposes. If you are seeing much worse than this, try to make sure you have a USB 3.0 connection, and not just USB 2.0.

Similar issue .. guidance appreciated

Dell M3800 4K
Dell D3100
Dell P2715Q

D3100 plugged to M3800 via USB3.0 port on left side of 3800 to back connection on D3100.

Drivers loaded before plugging into D3100 per user guide.

Something going on with M3800 display to P2715Q display sync ... P2715Q will not show full display as it appears on M3800 (looks like center portion ... can't see task bar) or icons on RHS or LHS of M3800 on the P2715Q). M3800 display goes unstable when plugged to D3100 ... generally black but will flash with mouse motion.

How to get P2715Q and M3800 to look same and both display? Got both with assumption that they were matched resolution and would be easy to replicate M3800 display on desktop for office use.

Thnx in advance.

Hi James,

unfortunately no change in performance,
it seems this issue is a bad driver for Windows 10.

Are you able to share only the basic driver ?

regards,
Jeroen

Hi,

it seems the DL-3900 is not capable of showing high resolution on external display. when i choose for resolution 2560 x 1440 which should be able according to the product specs on the website i have enormous lag/latency drop, however when i set resolution a bit lower to 2048 x 1152 the lag/latency drop is way less...

it seems this is a product which does not live up to its expactation and promises according to Displaylink.

how to proceed further ?

regards,
Jeroen
