Hello DisplayLink Support,
I am running Win10 build 10041 here with a Displaylink device as secondary monitor, and everything was hunky-dory with DisplayLink driver 7.8.5999.x. But yesterday got via Windows Update your latest version 7.8.61611.0 and all hell broke loose. The driver will try to initiate, crash out, re-initiate, then crash out. Continuous loop thus. Screens flashing all the time.
I am suspecting this version is having issues with my main AMD video card. I have collected the support file and attached. I hope this can help you diagnose the issue. In the meantime, could please help direct me to where I can download the former version 7.8.5999.x. Thanks already.

I'm seeing the same thing happen on my Surface Pro 3.
Have cleaned it up a few times, WU pulls down the driver, have also tried the one that "works" with 10041 - still keeps fighting itself. Screens flash on/off, sound plays like "ooh plugged in" then "device disconnected".

Incredibly frustrating!

Hi McA,

Can you please check if there are newer AMD drivers available on Windows Update for your graphics card and let us know what happens?

Thanks,
Paul

To be honest, I can't be bothered. Yes I know this is beta, but I have not had any issue with any other peripherals since the start of testing Windows 10 months ago. The fact that these drivers work, then don't work, then work again, then don't work again has consumed far too much time than it should of - even for a beta.
I'm no longer using any DisplayLink technology.

Am having the same issues

Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon X1 (3448)

Using the Lenovo USB Dock, but also tested on a Targus USB Superspeed 3.0 Dock.

Screens flash, cycle but do not stay on.

Tried full clean and reinstall of the displaylink drivers yesterday - now running 7.8.61611.0 on Windows 10 build 10041

Anyone have a link to the previous version of the driver?

Surface Pro 3
Targus USB 3.0 Dock with power
DL 7.8.61611 installed by WU

Update 3/25:
Went home last night and plugged my SP3 into my Dell S2340 Touch screen monitor with built-in USB 3.0 dock. DisplayLink drivers worked fine with that device. Then this morning tried a Thinkpad USB 3.0 dock and it worked fine as well. Came back to my desk and plugged in my Targus dock again and the DisplayLink drivers failed again.

The problem is clearly with support for the Targus dockin my case.

Same issue with the latest build/driver you posted today. Screen flashes 5-6 times and never turns on. explore.exe eventually crashes.

I've installed the latest Alpha from today and it seems to be working for me.
Make sure you use the DL cleaner when remove the old drivers.

After uninstalling all previous versions, and even running the Display Link cleaner tool, then reinstalling the latest alpha, I'm still experiencing the same behavior.

The DisplayLinkManager service crashes almost immediately upon start.
I've disabled the service for the time being to avoid the flashing screen and crashes that follow.

I first used the DL clean tool and then installed the Alpha 8 driver.
It now works for me :)

Happy easter!

I had done that yesterday when James first posted the new v8. I'll give it another go, though.

Thanks for some positive notes :)
