I can't find info on the exact DL chipset used in the Varidrive.

Since I'm planning to buy a new monitor max resolution is important.

Asus website (http://www.asus.com/Storages/Varidrive/#specifications) mentions:
HDMI Single Ext. Output: 2048*1152 (16:9)
VGA Single Ext. Output: 2048*1152 (16:9)

DisplayLink website (http://www.displaylink.com/pdf/DL-3x00_Product_Brief.pdf) says (for all chips except the dl-3100):
Max resolution is 2560*1600.

If the latter is true I can buy a QD monitor (2560x1440)

so:
what's the chip used in the varidrive?
what's the max resolution i can attach via hdmi?

thx, keepITcool

P.S. My laptop is a UX31A with HD4000 only. In my case size matters, not performance.

Hi,

Over HDMI the maximum will be 2048*1152

2560*x resolutions require a DisplayPort video output.

Thanks,
James
