Hello -

It's been 6 months since I've had my X1 Carbon with the ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock, and I'm still seeing the same issues. To be fairly honest, my biggest frustration is that 6 months later, and a mountain of people reporting the same issue, and this still seems to be a mystery.

Is this a confirmed, reproducible issue scheduled for a fix in future driver release? It would be nice if someone from the DisplayLink side could confirm the root-cause of the issue, and whether it will be fixed anytime soon. I've read through all the threads, and haven't seen anything describing what the root-cause is.

Here are a few notes and updates as to why this is a fairly big issue for me:

1) There are two distinct scenarios - Everything is fine, -or- the graphics start to get pixelated, and my laptop begins slowing down. Web-browsing via Chrome is especially affected. Scrolling through webpages is horrible. Lenovo.com is actually a great example of a webpage that is super slow in the scenario where the DisplayLink hardware is having issues.

2) I'm running the latest released drivers - 7.2.47873.0

3) I care less about the pixelation, and more about the fact that EVERYTHING slows down once I'm docked and the pixelation begins. Even simple things like opening emails, working in Excel happen slower. It is easy to confirm this is an issue with the DisplayLink dock, because simply unplugging the dock and working from a single monitor attached through the Mini-DP port, and everything works fine.

It's important to note though, when the pixelation -doesn't- occur, everything runs quick and snappy like you'd expect on a high-end Lenovo machine and a USB 3.0 dock. This is probably the most frustating piece because if it ran slow all the time, I would have returned the device months ago. The fact that only runs slow -sometimes- proves to me that it's scenario-based and most likely resolvable with a driver or firmware update.

I'M WILLING TO LET YOU RUN DEBUGGING SOFTWARE ON MY COMPUTER VIA A WEBEX OR GOTOMEETING. It's more than worth it to me to sacrifice a few hours of my time and KNOW that you have the root-cause scenario and all the data you need to properly fix the issue.

Thanks,

- Jeff
