Hi, all! I am new here. But, I did search both the KB and the forum before posting this. If this has been addressed before, feel free to point me to the correct topic.

I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit) on a Lenovo ThinkPad T500 with an HIS Digital branded DisplayLink adapter. I am running the latest driver as offered on the displaylink.com driver download page (7.2 M0, I think).

This morning, Windows Update is listing an option update for DisplayLink. Their date shows 04/16/2013. But, I cannot figure out what version of the driver it will download and install without installing it. Does anyone know if there's a way to find this information? Neither the "More Information" or "Support Information" links in Windows Update are of any help. They both redirect me to generic MS web pages.

Thanks in advance!

7.2 M0 is the latest software on Windows update for this device. We are about to update this to 7.2 M1 in the next week.

You can see the verson of software pushed out for any device on Windows update using the Microsoft website:

http://update.catalog.microsoft.com

Note: you have to use IE to view the website.

Thanks! Should I be concerned that this site lists the latest driver available as being from 2011?

What is the VID/PID of the device you are looking at?

From my DL-195 (028F) adapter's properties "Hardware Ids" entry:

USB\VID_17E9&PID_028F&REV_0124
USB\VID_17E9&PID_028F

When I search for "DisplayLink" on that update catalog page, all of the drivers I'm shown indicate 2011 as the latest date for drivers. Maybe I'm not searching for the right thing?

Yes - this is correct. You should search for USB\VID_17E9&PID_028F for example, as the versions can differ per PID, as our customers all want different versions that they have qualified on Windows update.

Multiple versions can be assigned to a VID/PID, but only the latest will be pushed out by Windows update, which is 7.2.47157.0 for the example above.
