Hi, I purchased a UGA USB 2.0 Multi-Display Adapter.

But the resolution isn't supported or even an option.

Just wondering if there is a quick fix I can get a hold of?

I can't find any information on it, which I can only assume is a bug, as the Box claims that 1920x1080 is supported...

And the release notes don't mention it either...

http://www.displaylink.com/filestore/release_note/DisplayLinkMacOSX-1.5-release_notes.txt

Is the latest Beta Release from 29 September working for the Resolution I'm after per chance?

BTW: I'm running a MACBOOK Pro 13" with 2 External Monitors,

One on a
MiniDVI-DVI @ 1920x1080
and the other
UGA 2.0 Multi-Display Adapater Running DisplayLink USB Graphics Macintosh Driver 1.5 stuck @ 1680x1050 which makes the 24 " monitor Blurry.

Please download the Mac DisplayLink debug tool from the website
below, then gather the system information and upload the zip file. This
would give us more information as to what is wrong.

I have the same issue with a 30" apple cinema display stuck in 1280 x 800, 1.6b3 did not fix the low resolution issue just removed the 0x0...
I have the info captured via display link debug tool but I haven't find where to upload the file. The debug tool page just says "send the debug file to DisplayLink" which is a little vague...

Happy to! I'm surprised to hear this isn't a known issue, everything about my set up is probably the most default generic set up around. The ViewSonic is the 24" monitor that has been on the market at the sweet spot price for over a year too! It's not like it's some strange unknown Hardware manufacturer...

It's all attached.

Thanks.:o

Please let me know if there is some way to trick the device into allowing 1920x1080

He means, attach it to this thread, I assume.

I'm sure there are many more like us with this problem, especially as more and more people are investing in a Mac these days. It's one hell of a handy piece of kit for the Software Development I do. And the alternatives cost about 4 times the amount.

So if I can get this bug fixed, my Dev set up is complete.

Could you please send me the link where you bought your adapter from?

What is its manufacturer and model of the device?

Regards

another problem i have with this is, its very laggy when i have the adapter plugged in, when i click on the expose button it gives me a slow/choppy animation.

when scrolling in the adapter's window, it does the same thing too.. (slow and choppy)

Yea that's not really an issue as opposed to just the way it is with USB External monitor output.

Though it shouldn't be too Choppy, but then again if it's graphics intensive maybe it would be.

I just use mine as a means for Web browsing, and writing Code,

Hi Pawel, do you have any update on this?

We're running into this issue as well and we were planning on rolling out this solution to all our Mac users (~50 users and growing fast). Unless we can find a fix we'll have to look into getting another product.

Let me know if you need further debug info.

FYI, I used switchresX to try to force the resolution to 1920x1080 but had no luck with that, I can give you modelines, EDID or anything you need to help figure this out.

In our case, the dongle is called USB 2.0 UGA AUDIO, MODEL WS-UG17M1

This is due to lack of graphics acceleration support for the current OS X Driver. As an example, you can use your USB Display in Windows (bootcamp) on the same notebook and it will run the display much smoother because the windows drivers enable graphics acceleration. It is a feature many of us are pushing for in the OS X Driver. See http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=362

We tried another model, the WS-UGA19D1 and this one works fine and allow resolutions all the way up to 2048x1152.

Since the other dongle WS-UG17M1 does allow res up to 1920x1080 in windows, I still think that the issue can and should be resolved in software, but in the meantime, we have a way to get this working with the other product.

Now just have to wait for the OpenGL hardware acceleration.

Another unhappy mac user here. Tested the adapter on my 1600*1200 monitor and macbook pro without issues so I supposed everything was ok and ordered a few Samsung 1920*1080 screens.

And now I can't get them running in 1920 * 1080. Funny thing is that the on packaging it claims that the device should be able to do it and I find no reference on the box of the fact that Windows and Mac OS X resolution support is not identical.
:(

this is for a WS-UGA17M1.

hey boys'n'girls,

i've ordered an adapter (http://d.pr/wNjm) from ebay and now it's working with 1680x1050 on my FullHD-Screen.

I think it's also the WS-UG17M1 but check with the link above.
now i want to order the WS-UGA19D1 because nmeessen said,
that this will work. can somebody check, wether THIS (http://d.pr/ZktR) is the working WS-UGA19D1 adaptor?!
because the page doesn't something about.

but i find out, that the WS-UGA19D1 is die 2048-Adapter, so i hope that this will work.

it would be fine, if somebody can ack this, that THIS (http://d.pr/ZktR) is this one what will work.

or is there some new news, that the WS-UG17M1 will work, too?!

thanks in advance and sry for bad bad englisch :/

I have the same problem,

I'm trying to run 2xAOC 23" (e2343F) on my 15" MacBook Pro MB986(A1286)

i can't get full 1920x1080 and work more slowly than my integrated videocard

hey,
there is a minimalstic graphic-card inside...
also the speed is slowed down, cause of the USB.
so it is just for surfing or reading oder stuff like this.
games and videos are like a picture-show...

but under windows it is working better... dont know why...

do you have the 1920 oder 2049 model?

nice weekend

no, i have not
i dont need it for game and watching movies, i need it just for Stock Chart
with chart it works ok, but resolution it is a trouble, because my first display have 1920-1080 resolution and i can not set the same resolution on the second display, it is not comfortable for my eyes and for my sets.
i bought THIS card because i don't need more.

somebody has solved this problem? if yes please help
why this card does not issue permit resolution?

eXyr0w
03-19-2011, 03:15 PM
i've bought the "higher" plug,
because in a forum ive read that under OS X only the 2048 is able to display the 1920 resolution... the 1920 plug IS NOT able to display the 1920...
paradox, hu?

so, invest 5€/$ more and u're done...
maybe in future time, the driver is able to display that,
but not now...
sry

Hitting the same issue here as well. Macbook Pro. Dual Dell P2411H monitors with native 1920x1080 resolution. The one connected via the Displayport is fine, but the one connected to the adapter tops out (frustratingly) at 1280x1024. The adapter I use is a Monoprice 6040.

I can attach my DisplayLink debug information if needed.

This should be fixed in the Mac 1.6 Beta 4 here (http://displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=761)
