Over in the Plugable support forums, suddenly this morning we have several reports of the latest DisplayLink auto-update causing DisplayLink devices not to work. System Restore back to prior driver version fixed it for one user.

It doesn't appear to affect every system - we haven't seen it in our labs yet (but are trying different combinations this morning).
