Hello,

I just recently installed thePA3927U-1PRP dynadock U3.0 Driver version 7.03M on a Windows 8 system (64 bit).

Whenever my laptop goes to sleep, a white box appears in the top left corner of the desktop upon wakeup.

When I disable the DisplayLink service and reboot the PC, the problem goes away.

How can I prevent this white box from occurring?

It appears some other users are having an issue at http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=70146&tstart=0&messageID=277842

Just upgraded to 7.1 M0, same issue.

I have heard about this on a small number of GPUs and certain driver versions. I think there is a bug we expose in the primary graphics driver when we are installed, as we use the GPU for some 3D effects.

Have you got the latest GPU driver installed?

There was a newer driver for my Intel HD 4000 GPU, I upgraded it and it did not resolve the white box after wakeup issue.

Does this happen with previous DisplayLink releases (7.0 or 6.3 M1?). Wondering if it is a regression.

afail - the screenshot you posted, is this from a print screen? If so then this must be the pixels the OS is giving us, which would give a clue as to where the problem is.

Any updates on this?

I am also having the same issue. A white box appears in the top left corner of screen.

It originally only appeared after the laptop had been to sleep, but now it can appear anytime.

If i click on the 'show the desktop' shortcut (far right of start bar), the white box will minimise.

I have attached a screenshot.

Thanks

OK - The white rectangle is not corruption. It's supposedly a background app by MSI called MGSysCtrl.exe, called System Control manager. I suspect without multiple displays it's hidden off the screen desktop, but when DisplayLink displays extend the desktop, it can't hide anymore and appears at the desktop position 0x0 on the primary display.

Think MSI will need to fix this as their method of hiding the app doesn't work when multiple displays are enabled.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes you are correct. I figured it out the other day. I uninstalled SCM and downloaded a special version for computers updated from Win7 to Win8 and this fixed the issue.

For anyone else with a Win8 (updated from Win7) MSI computer running 'System Control Manager' (SCM) getting this very issue:

* Uninstall SCM from your system

* Go to the MSI website and find your system model number.

* Go the downloads page and find SCM (or System Control Manager)

* Choose the specific version for your OS (if you have updated from Win7 to Win8 you will need a special version which will be listed)

* Install the new version and the issue with the white box should go away

Hope this helps someone.

Many Thanks
BD

Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station
Samsung NP900X4D-A03CA notebook with Intel HD 4000 graphics
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

I'm using the latest graphics driver from Intel and the latest Display Link driver. All Windows updates are installed.

Problem happens after the display turns off for power saving. When the display comes back on there is a white box at the top left of the desktop (not the tile screen). The box is not clickable and nothing makes it go away except a restart. The box shows up on both the notebook display and the external monitor and it shows up even if the dock is not connected. If I use msconfig to disable the Display Link Manager the problem does not happen, but then it will not display to external monitor so that doesn't help me. I have tried disabling other startup services and apps but found nothing that made the problem go away.

It seems that Display Link does not play well with Intel HD 4000. Is there a solution?

This looks like the same problem that is covered in this thread, so merged.

Hi,

I see a fix exists for MSI users, but no such app for us Samsung folks. Any ideas on what we could try?

It's not the same problem.

I have used msconfig and the startup items to remove every service and app from startup except displayport and I still get the white square when resuming from sleep. I think there needs to be a driver update from display port to fix this.

I had the same problem on my Ativ Smart PC Pro and it turned out to be the S Pen software. It drove me nuts because I never could find a way to uninstall it, and it didn't show up in msconfig at all. I don't know if they hid it in with another service, but I finally gave up trying to fix it and just ended task on S Pen whenever it came up.

You might just try end tasking non-MS programs when the box comes up and see what closes it. You could also try highlighting Explorer in the task manager and clicking "Restart" - which actually works much better than I'd expected it to, based on previous versions of Windows.

I think you will have to contact Samsung about this. There is nothing DisplayLink can do to fix this.

I guess you could kill the app that is causing it and prevent it running at startup?

Well I have good news, managed to solve it with the help of a colleague. It took two of us several hours of frustration to get this fixed. We traced it to the Samsung update application, "S Agent". Previously this app was taken out with msconfig but that did not fix the problem. It must be completely removed from the computer by running the uninstaller for it.

Hi,

I have a Samsung NP900X4C-A07US, same problem.

What is the exact name of the samsung application to uninstall? Or the file name. I can find software updates, and several others, nothing with the name S agent.

thanks

C:\Program Files\Samsung\S Agent\

You will see the file: sAgentUninstallUtility.exe - run that (it might not do anything).

You might need to disable it from the startup items as well, if the uninstaller does not remove it completely. Worst case, rename the S Agent folder and that will stop it for sure. Good luck!

Looks like I have a similar problem but I have a grey rectangular box that appears in the lower left corner of my screen after my Dell Inspiron 15 wakes up. It has been appearing since I purchased the PC & the docking station.

I am running Win 8.1
DL SW v7.7.5903.0
DL Graphics v7.7.59856.0

See attched image.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
