For the last 6 months I have been using an HP port replicator with my HP laptop and two external monitors. One monitor is hooked up to the port replicator and one is hooked directly into the VGA port on the laptop. Everything worked fine, with the use of the laptop screen and both monitors, so I had three screens. Win 7 detected all three fine. Than the other day I lost both external monitors. I was able to get Win7 to detect the monitor that is hooked directly into the VGA port on the laptop, but not the monitor hooked up to the VGA port on the replicator. I reloaded the display link software and it did not fix the problem. Win 7 cannot detect the monitor hooked up through the port replicator. I have switched the monitors to see if one failed, but both work when attached to the VGA port on the laptop.

Any ideas on the problem. Should I try an older version of display link? This may have happened when Win 7 automatically updated.

Found and ran the Windows Displaylink Debug tool and the problem was solved.
