Hi, I'm a new member here. I have exhausted every possibility to get this to work.
I have updated my graphics card version online, I have tried http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=234, but when the cd installation is processing, it keeps displaying the same 'vbscript' error (http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/1851/ingdisplaylinkproblem.jpg). I have Windows Vista service pack 2, 32 bit, my graphics card is an NVidia GeForce 7025 / NVidia GeForce 630a and I have also tried the MicrosoftFixit50181.msi file that was mentioned on a thread here, but I cannot install the software, although, my drivers are installed and are telling me this and only one of my 2 monitors are working (the one I'm using now). I have even downloaded the latest version online, but it doesn't work.

My anti virus is VIPRE.

Does anyone have any ideas? If no one has a solution then I'm going to have to buy a graphics card with both DVI and VGA ports. Thank you!

PS: One of my monitors are linked by a VGA output to the USB 2.0 multi-display adapter through a USB to my PC tower whilst my second monitor is linked from the VGA output to a VGA port on my PC tower (diagram (http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/6690/diagramp.jpg)), I just thought I'd mention that! :)

Hi

I think the problem is not directly related to DisplayLink, but something disabling VBScript in your system.

A quick google pointed me to this (which bizarly was also about a DisplayLink install with VBScript)

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/how-to-enable-vbscript-engine-in-vista-sp-2/8f0f4e53-7c52-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?msgId=09e75625-7f53-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

This tool from Microsoft can help restore VBscript and hopefully allow the install to continue:

Like I already mentioned the FixIt .msi did not work for me, when I ran the cd again it still mentions the VBScript error. Even turning it on in DOS (regsvr32 vbscript.dll) doesn't work. I have exhausted every possibility and yet..nothing!
I have even let Windows Updates do all the work, it tells me it's worked and yet there's no icon on the start bar or program installed.

Could you try temporarily disable your virus checker and see if this allows the install to continue? Sometimes virus killers silently prevent VBscripts running and can cause this issue.

Thanks

Nope, uninstalled my antivirus software and it still shows the vbscript error during installation.

I have just bought a new graphics card from eBay, with VGA and DVI outputs. DisplayLink is rubbish and has been a waste of money. Thanks for your help! :)
