Trying to install a USB to VGA adapter- simple right?

First, the problem: After the first reboot of PC, the system goes into memory dump mode, doesn't boot into Windows.

I have tried the CD install, the Windows automatic install, and most recently...the 5.6 install prior to plugging it in. Now every time i plug it in, it does a little install like I didn't install it, and I don't see the icon in systray.

The only way to get it booted after install is F8 then last known good configuration. The only time it worked was after a clean install, but as soon as you reboot, it's goes to memory dump.
