Default Ubuntu 14.04.3 Dell d3100 displaylink

I am pretty sure I followed the directions, but there were package dependencies which would not allow the software to unpack. The D3100 works for multiple usb ports and speakers, but not for monitors since I could not install the displaylink software. I am interested in getting this up and running suggestions would be most welcome?

Hi dbuchsbaum,

What is the installer complaining about?
Are you able to post here the output of the install command:

sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.0.138.run install
If you believe your system is missing any dependency the following article might be helpful:
