Dell D6000 not working with Macbook 13 2019 Running 10.14.6

I recently purchased a 13" MBP 2019 (2 port model).
Tried connecting with a Dell D6000.

Had no luck with external monitors or even a USB mouse plugged into the hub. Went through all the known driver issue fixes (recovery mode etc)
I had a dell external power brick connected to the D6000 too 19.5v 4.62A (90W).

It wasn't until I connected the Mac charger to the second thunderbolt port that my mouse started working, before that I just got a flashing light on the mouse.
In my mind I wasn't expecting this to be a requirement. I knew that my Mac may not charge at full rate, but I didn't expect it to stop the D6000 working. I guess the Mac is drawing too much current from the D6000.

Confirmed (at least on my hardware) that the D6000 will only work in the rear thunderbolt port with the Mac power supply in the front one. Tried the other way around multiple times with no luck. Confirmed working on an external monitor connected to HDMI, both in dual and mirrored modes.

Will confirm in a week if I can run both an LG ultra wide monitor in HDMI and a Dell 24" via DisplayPort next week.

Summary:
So for anyone reading this having issues with the D6000, check:

1. You have a Dell power brick connected to the D6000
2. You have plugged the D6000 into the REAR thunderbolt port (left side, untested on 4 port model)
3. You have your Mac's power cord in the FRONT thunderbolt port
